Looking back in Time

Below are the 77 generations of Jesus back to Adam and God. "Seven" in Hebrew is the word to "swear", make an oath, to fix a boundary. The counting of those generations ended in him. And thus in 1 Corinthians 15:45-47 Jesus is named as the "last Adam" on earth and the "second Man" from Heaven. As he then breathed on the disciples to welcome the Holy Spirit, so, until the day he returns, those words enable us to receive faith, to welcome the Holy Spirit, to become part of His Family, as well.

The early Codex Sinaiticus script used in the NLT and the ESV and some other modern translations includes an additional name Admin between Aram (which it renames as Arni) and Amminadab. If it's not a typo, if Admin was a real character, he still makes Jesus the 77th generation but this list needs to start with Adam (instead of God) as generation 1. That's fine, Jesus as we know is both son of man and son of God.

See Ruth 4:17, where Obed is called the son of Naomi though he was really her grandson, her sons having previously died.
